Stephen Colbert got Annette Bening to spill a few beans about her role in the movie Captain Marvel
Stephen Colbert used the ol’ “I’ll tell if you tell” tactic while getting Annette Bening to spill a few beans about her role in the Captain Marvel movie which will begin showing on March 8, 2019.
Colbert laughed and said to Bening, “-I want you to know that I’m in show business so I know things. Don’t think I don’t know things about this movie, Annette Bening. I know things that people don’t know. I know them.”
Bening asked Colbert if he knows anything, like the character that she plays. To this, Colbert, responded, “I can’t even say whether I know that.”
Colbert told Bening that she had just messed up when she started talking about the character she is playing, which is something Marvel folks know not to do.
“You just broke the first rule of talking about Marvel movies. Tell me what you can tell me or tell us about your movie and then I’ll tell you whether I know more than what you’ve told me,” Colbert said.
Without giving away her character's name, Bening told Colbert a few things about her character.
Bening said to Colbert, “I play the supreme intelligence who is a god like entity. The leader of the Cree people. The artificial intelligence which consists of the greatest intellects of the Cree people for the last millions years…And there’s more, but I can’t say it.”
Colbert let Bening know that it’s all right that she can’t say too much and that he was just jiving with her.
“And I know it. That’s what I can say. This must be so frustrating to these people. But I’m having a great time,” Colbert said.
